Teesters, Daybeds and Crowns, oh my!

I am currently obsessed with finding a vintage teester or, to use a less bizarre sounding term, a bed crown. There are a decent amount of new ones you can order online from various sources, but I don't think anything can ever compare to the authentic texture of the real vintage find. Right now that first half crown teester is the absolute best version I have ever seen, and I have dreams of finding some great wood or metal crown, slicing it in half and creating my own royal bed chamber. Probably not very likely, but perhaps I may happen across some old curved architectural element that could be adapted for the same purposes.

I also like like the look of these more boxy designs which would likely be easier to create on your own with some moldings and trim from the local hardware store. With some elbow grease, a bit of paint and a lot of creativity maybe your bed could look like this...
Both of those previous images also have gorgeous daybeds, another obsession of mine. I love the relaxed yet elegant atmosphere a cozy daybed can create in an unexpected spot. Of course, most of the daybeds you'll come across today are the mass produced metal variety (usually black), but what I long for is the beautifully constructed and carved wooden creation...
Isn't this a wonderful surprise in a sitting area? So much better than an everyday couch!
And this sublime arrangement just makes me want to spend the whole day with a cup of tea and a favorite book. Honestly, I don't think I'd ever want to leave. How about you?

  1. gaaaaaaaaaaaaaah that small spaces image made me drool all over my key board!

so bright and beautiful and the rug and i just want to lie on the day bed with a book and read.

  2. Isn't it amazing? I think that's got to be one of the prettiest sleigh beds I've ever seen. And I love the effect of the light from that gorgeous window on that simple white bedding.
